Known for her chart-topping hits in the 1980s, singer Tiffany Darwish has transitioned to a more serene existence in Tennessee, a significant shift from her early days of pop stardom.
“For the most part, six o'clock rolls in, and I'm in the kitchen. I'm cooking. That's it. And you know by eight o'clock, I like to sit down and watch some Netflix and chill out,” the artist shared. “And we start it all again the next day.”
A Culinary Journey and New Beginnings
In recent years, Darwish has dedicated herself to cultivating a culinary brand that seamlessly blends her love for preparing meals, hosting, and engaging with her fanbase. Through her platform, titled Let's Food With Tiffany, she provides a variety of resources including recipes, interactive virtual cooking sessions, and food-centric events, all imbued with the same dynamic and imaginative spirit that propelled her to pop music fame.
Among Tiffany's latest endeavors is “Pop Life,” a cookbook developed in collaboration with acclaimed Las Vegas chef Alicia Shevetone.
“The German chocolate muffins. My grandmother loved German chocolate cake,” she recounted. “And so, you know, those little mini bites are everything. We really perfected them until they tasted like my grandma's German chocolate. And I have to say that my sister, Cheressa, really helped on that, because she plated all the food. My brother-in-law took all the photos. It was a family affair.”
Another culinary favorite for Darwish is her distinctive Lebanese chicken, which she has also adapted into a salad.
Finding Passion During the Pandemic
Reflecting on the year 2020, Tiffany spoke about a period of vulnerability. “Most of my family's passed away. And I think we all felt so vulnerable,” she explained. “And for me, I ended up getting stuck in Los Angeles. I live in Nashville, but I was traveling and everything started locking down, and I was too afraid to get on a plane.”
Six years later, Darwish has established a comforting routine in Nashville.
“Oh, coffee, first thing in the morning. Coffee and meditation time out on the porch with my dogs and my cat and taking it in. It's really active on the property,” she described. Tiffany shared that her mornings also involve prayer and expressing gratitude, followed by a workout and engaging in business calls.
Her cookbook, “POP LIFE: The Ultimate 80s Kitchen Encore,” keeps her busy most days, alongside the continuous growth of her food and lifestyle brand, “Let’s Food with Tiffany.”
“She's a chef, she's doing some celebrity parties, working with celebrity chefs,” Tiffany observed about her evolving persona.
The Genesis of a Cookbook
The collaboration for “Pop Life” began organically. “So, it took a minute because I traveled to Vegas for a show. Of course, I connected with Chef Alicia. We went out for dinner, we went out for drinks, her husband, Mark, my fiancé, Mark. Two 80s girls, literally listening to soundtrack of the 80s, having our cocktails. And I just was like, ‘You know what? I think we should do a cookbook together,’” Tiffany elaborated.
The two decided to craft a cookbook that would highlight popular foods from the 1980s. “POP LIFE: The Ultimate 80s Kitchen Encore” is currently available.
